Community Solar Day - November 20, 2011

The XSeed Energy solar team participated in the worldwide Community Solar Day with a photograph in front of our dream project at the Michigan Theater.

The solar team included representatives from Clean Energy Coalition, City of Ann Arbor, Michigan Theater and The Green Panel.

As the protesters leading the Occupy Wall Street movement decry the big banks that crashed the economy, foreclose people's homes and continue to finance mega fossil fuel projects like the Tar Sands, community solar represents one path forward: clean energy created for and by the people. Community solar projects are taking the first steps toward a future where people can move their money out of low-yield savings accounts and into safe and high-yield solar investments that lower carbon emissions and create green jobs and local prosperity.

Using funds from community donations and grants, XSeed Energy is a grassroots initiative in which residents, businesses and others work together to develop highly visible, renewable energy projects. Proceeds from financial incentives and donations are recycled back into an “energy bank” to fund ongoing renewable energy installations throughout Ann Arbor. The project’s goal is to seed community power projects.
