About XSeed Energy

The Basics
XSeed Energy is part of the national U.S. Solar America Cities program which is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. Clean Energy Coalition administers the Solar America Cities program for the City of Ann Arbor.

Clean Energy Coalition is a nonprofit headquartered in Ypsilanti dedicated to promoting clean energy technologies as a way to create healthier, energy independent communities. The organization administers residential and commercial building programs and clean energy transportation initiatives.

Our goal is to help move Ann Arbor towards renewable energy sources, including solar, wind and other technologies. The energy being generated by the XSeed Energy project will help reduce the city's reliance of fossil fuels.

Contributing to XSeed is an investment in the future for the entire region. It will benefit the community in the near term by generating clean energy, and benefit future generations by being a first step in the creation of a sustainable community.

The Bottom Line
XSeed Energy is Ann Arbor's community power project. XSeed Energy will seek grants to support our projects, but the majority of the project funds will come from sponsorships and donations by you. The more money we raise from the community, the more renewable energy projects we can install to displace energy generated from coal!  All proceeds from the installation, and the energy it generates, will feed back into a "solar bank" that will help pay for future installations in the community.
